November 26, 2015 ATHENS - GREECE Words from Giorgios Romanos, father of the political prisoner of the Greece youth Nikos Romanos “We have to launch a campaign and common fight at international level for the freedom not only of Nikos but of every political prisoner”
We took Giorgios the campaign anf struggle for the freedom of the political prisoners, included Nikos, just carried on in different countries like Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Spain, South Africa, Palestine, Syria, Mexico, and Brazil, an international day on 12/12. Giorgios looked happy when he knew the fight for the freedom of the political prisoners like his son break with the borders. He was amazed and felt enthusiastic knowing that in various places across the world from where he never imagined to have news, for example, from the South of the American continent, there are demonstrations taking placards with the face of Nikos Romanos as part of a struggle for the freedom of hundreds of political prisoners detained or persecuted because of defending their rights, fighting for a decent life. Giorgios is a father but also a fighter. He told us he was seeking to set up a permanent campaign and common fight at international level for the freedom not only of his son but for all the Greek prisoners- that today they are already 52- and all the political prisoners of the world. He does not accept that the fighters against this system of oppression be in jail. For this fight, Giorgios knows very well he needs the unity, coordination of all those who fight like him, for the world political prisoners. Giorgios has the idea to set up an International Net to unify the fighters persecuted by the oppressor states. For that reason, he quickly got involved in the fight Las Heras workers have launched together with the Palestinian prisoners in the dungeons of the Zionist occupation, the family of the 43 students disappeared in Mexico, worker and student organizations from Spain, Japan, South Africa, together with Refugees Committees in France, with George Abdallah and a long etcetera. “This cannot be only a day, but something permanent, where we know what is happening in other places and be able to get organized and act as a whole for all the political prisoners” Giorgios explains and continues “we need to launch an appeal so that everybody can get unified despite the political banners and theories, it is possible to have different views and fight altogether for the freedom of all the prisoners. Even, we must call on the university professors and personalities with influence so that they can also spread this fight” Either them or us! The forces to fight against the oppressors, the torturers and assassins get gathered and begin to get coordinated. The setting of an International Net to fight for never again to exist a persecuted fighter, repressed or in detention confronting alone the state, his jails, his murderous armed forces. It is a need of all the exploited. The fight and enemy we confront is the same, it is in our unity and coordination, as Giorgios says, our strength and possibility of victory.
