The huge struggle of the workers of Jasic Technology against slavery and for an independent union
Since mid-2018 the workers of Jasic began the fight to conquer an independent union. They were fed up with the mistreatment, the blows, the exploitation, the compulsive discounts, the long unpaid overtime, the obligatory training of strenuous 10-kilometer walks and all kinds of abuses. The struggle has been going on for many months and the workers have faced layoffs, repression, persecution, imprisonment; but they have also aroused the solidarity of workers and students from all over China who face to this day the terrible punishments of the ChCP's whip and the Chinese mandarins that even go so far as the disappearance of activists. The struggle of Jasic is today a witness struggle of the workers 'and students' movement in China and the whole world. The international proletariat must come to its support.
Jasic Technology is a Chinese company founded in 2005 located in the city of Shenzhen, one of the main cities of Guandong (Canton) in western China. Jasic manufactures and sells inverting welding machines, motor welding machines and other welding equipment used mainly in construction. The majority of Jasic's workers are immigrants, from rural areas of China, impoverished people who arrive in Shenzhen as well as other industrial zones, in search of a future for their family.
The unbearable working conditions, of true slavery, pushed the workers into struggle. It all began with the demand for an increase in payment for overtime and for the fund for the provision of housing, which were illegally low. After getting this increase, the workers who led this fight were fired, including Yu Juncong. But they did not sit idly by.
On May 10, 2018, three workers from Jasic, Liu Penghua, MiJiuping and Zhang Baoxinwent to the Federation of Trade Unions of Pingshan (FTU) to denounce the atrocities experienced in the company, and to request the formation of a union. Although at first the request to form a union was accepted, the FTU told the workers that they needed the approval of the company; after they had to gather signatures among the workers. When the workers started the signature meeting they found the threats and the intimidation of the company... and if that were not enough, the FTU denied them not only all the help, but also that they were informed that from that moment they had established a channel of direct communication with the company and that for that reason in future they would not communicate more with the workers. The company, with the presence and consent of representatives of the FTU, informed the workers that their actions were illegal. In the month of July these workers were brutally beaten by hired thugs and then dismissed from their jobs.
On July 20, workers recently fired together with workers dismissed in May attempted to enter the factory again to their jobs. They were beaten and thrown by the security guard; subsequently detained and released. On July 27 they made a new attempt to enter the factory but they found a brutal police repression that ended with the arrest of workers and even their relatives, their wives, their brothers, who were demonstrating with them. 30 protesters were arrested on that day.
The role and participation of the state in these humiliations against the workers are undeniable. Jasic's CEO, Pan Lei, and GuoLiqun, Jasic's human resources manager, are delegates to the Shenzhen People's Congress, government officials.
Since then Yu Jun Cong, Liu Penghua, Mi Jiu Ping, Li Zhan and other workers and activists are being detained and prosecuted for "disturbances of public order". They are not even allowed to see a lawyer.
University students, graduates and workers from all over the country join Jasic's struggle
The abuses and imprisonment of the workers of Jasic who only claimed their rights aroused the support of workers, activists, university students and graduates of the most prestigious universities in all of China. The Worker Support Group of Jasic was formed and from different parts of the country they traveled to Guandong to support the workers.
Many of the young people who came to offer support to the workers come from Maoism, they are part of the "Marxism study groups" that exist in the different universities. These students began to send communications through social networks, and even open letters to Xi Jinping in defense of the workers, appealing that as Marxists they should be on the side of the workers.
But the response of the regime was none other than repression. On August 24, 2018 at 5 a.m. Police forces broke into an apartment in the town of Hizhou, near Shenzhen, where a delegation from the Jasic Support Group had been, who had traveled there to provide support to the workers through rallies, protests and demonstrations in the streets for long days. The police detained 50 students and 3 workers who were with them. Today, the whereabouts of some of the activists participating in the movement are unknown, as is the case of Yue Xin (a graduate of Peking University, the driving force of the "Me too" movement in China) and Shen Mengyu and others continue to be detained. or with house arrest.
In November 2018 the protests and demonstrations continued and the red businessmen of the Chinese mandarins deepened the hunt against the students. The Jasic Support Group was declared an illegal organization, accused its members of "foreign agents". In addition, many websites that had spoken out on behalf of the Jasic workers were closed and at least 8 of its members were also detained. In the universities, the climate of terror also deepened. The "Marxist study groups" were closed, students were abducted, beaten and threatened, and a new wave of arrests spread in Beijin, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Wuhan. The universities of Nanking (where there were arrests), of Renmin (where "blacklists" of students were drawn up) and of the province of Guanxi (where computers and telephones were hijacked) were the focus of the terrible repression.
Immediate appearance with life of Yue Xin, Shen Mengyu and all the disappeared!
Immediate and unconditional freedom for all detainees! Immediate deprocessing!
The people want the police and fascist regime of the red businessmen of the Chinese mandarins to fall. Each time this was raised, the response was massacre and repression, imprisonment and repression. This is what they did after the Tianamenn uprising, after the huge wave and more than 250 thousand workers and peasants revolts of 2009-2010, which had its highest point in Tonghua and Lingzou, making the head of the managers roll, and they do so today. .
As Chinese workers and students shout, "Trade union formation is not a crime!" Full rights and freedom of union organization for workers and students! Factory committees are the way to achieve it.
Dissolution of all repressive forces! Self-defense committees to defend against attacks and persecution!
Down with the murderous and bloodthirsty regime of Xi Jinping and the Chinese mandarins! Long live the struggle of the rebellious workers and students of China!
