In the face of the eviction of the workers in Guernica, Presidente Perón district (Buenos Aires Province, 45 minutes from Buenos Aires City, NT) due on October 1st...
EVERYBODY TO GUERNICA!
No confidence in the government's dialogue tables!
The resistance struggles must be coordinated! To conquer decent housing, the urban landowners, the oligarchy and imperialism must be expropriated without compensation!
The fight for decent housing is a demand of the entire workers' movement.
In Argentina 4 million workers do not have a decent housing and lack basic services. 8 million, among workers and the middle classes, do not have their own housing and use more than 40% of their wages for paying a rent. Property prices have tripled in dollars in the last 20 years and rents are already unpayable, making it impossible for the great majority of workers to have a roof over their heads.
In the Fernandezes' hunger quarantine, in a bankrupt country, millions of workers in the 'black economy' have been laid off. The self-employed, informal and piecework workers were left without bread and in the streets, forced to live on begging, or if they get the IFE (state pandemic subsidy), on barely 10 thousand pesos a month (the family basic basket is around 60,000 pesos per month). The families and worker women can no longer afford to rent a room in a neighbor's house, from which they have been now evicted, in a war of the poor against the poor. It is in these conditions of desperation that the workers went out to fight for a piece of land for their children as we see in Guernica.
The "seizing of land," as the bourgeoisie likes to say through its media, so to turn the middle classes against the most exploited, has been a trail of gunpowder these last few months. The national and provincial governments have responded with repression, but the main settlements, installed in inhospitable lands and without services, are fighting and resisting. They are still standing in the province of Buenos Aires (La Plata, La Matanza, Moreno, San Fernando, Quilmes and President Perón), in Río Negro (Lake Mascardi), Neuquén (capital) and Córdoba. There thousands of working class families (many of which are single-mum families, NT) are fighting to conquer a vital demand that was handed over by the CGT and CTA union bureaucracy to the government (which always has turned its back on the most exploited, whatever party it is from), along with wages and work, thanks to which it could impose a hellish labor flexibilization for the benefit of the bosses.
The government of Fernández and Kicillof say that the "takeovers" are a "usurpation of land": an "illegal act”. The fascist Berni affirmed that "the right to private property is sacred”. This government, which has just put more money and supplies on its murderous police, has them ready to beat the hell out of more than 2,500 working class families in Guernica. If it has postponed doing so immediately, for the time being, it is because it knows that this "takeover" has received the solidarity of thousands of workers and their organizations. If it has not yet turned to repression it is because it knows that the demand for decent housing is a demand of the entire workers' movement, that can unite the ranks of the employed and unemployed workers against the government and its social pact supported by the union bureaucracy. That is why they are imposing "dialogue tables" and truncated census, with empty promises of future housing, intimidating the workers with the threat of opening criminal cases and violent eviction if they do not withdraw. They cannot allow any worker to dare touch a meter of private property to conquer their demands.
No confidence in Fernandez-Kicillof, who are buying time to surrender and throw out of the land as many people as they can to suppress those who remain resisting, although the families in Guernica have already conquered the land by fighting. If the government finally succeeds in evicting them, it will go with its murderous police for all the "takeovers" of the country, as it had been doing up to now, with brutal repression. They have to liquidate them, as was done in the Indoamerican Park in 2010, because the very idea that the struggle for housing is becoming widespread calls into question all the capitalist property, all the capital gains wrenched from the workers in conditions of labor flexibility and in working days of more than 12 hours. It cannot allow millions of exploited people all over the country to take the resolution of the problems into their own hands, and take what is theirs. It cannot allow a generalised struggle against the high cost of living and the hunger that each devaluation of the currency causes for the benefit of the capitalists and the agrarian income of the oligarchy.
We are workers! The land usurpers here are the agrarian oligarchy, the "urban landowners" and imperialism!
The real usurpers, those who stole the most productive lands of the country and the most valuable lands in the cities; they are the oligarchy and the "urban landowners", tied to thousands of businesses with the captains of industry and construction, the banks and imperialism. It was the oligarchy that stole the humid Pampa, Patagonia and Chaco by murdering Indians and rural workers, first under the command of General Roca and then the radical Yrigoyen. It is the same oligarchy of Mitre, Anchorena, Martínez de Hoz, Pueyrredón, Blaquier, that today, together with Lewis, Tompkins, Soros and Benetton, defend their property by gunshots, with the justice of the bosses, the state repressive forces and their private security. This is how they imprisoned Jones Huala and murdered Santiago Maldonado and Rafa Nahuel in the south. Today a little more than a thousand families of landowners own 62 million hectares (36% of the arable land, the richest).
In the menemato, Grosso and Macri families, associated with the "urban landowners" and foreign capital, took over Puerto Madero and the best properties along with the real estate business in CABA and the whole country. These are the usurpers who plunder the nation!
The demand for housing and work today unifies more than ever, millions of employed and unemployed workers.
Decent housing will not be achieved by the hand of Fernández and the bosses' politicians (partners of or directly landowners like the PRO councilman Guido Giana from Guernica), who only have promises, deceptions and beatings to give, housing will only be achieved by expropriating the "urban landowners" and the agrarian oligarchy. The struggle to conquer decent housing is a struggle of the entire workers' movement against the social pact and the union bureaucracy, and it will not be peaceful. The union bureaucrats must be defeated in the streets as in the Revolution of 2001 and thrown out of our organizations to unite the ranks of the flexibilized workers with the unemployed with the program of the piqueteros of Northern Salta who were fighting for decent work for all. Only in this way can we conquer our most basic demands such as housing.
EVERYBODY TO GUERNICA! We must confront the eviction of the working class families who are resisting! This is the same struggle for work, wages and decent housing of the entire workers' movement!
Let us set up right now a national coordinating committee of struggle of the workers' resistance and a unitary self-defense committee to confront the repression of the murderous police, the killers of Facundo! All the combative trade union and “piquetero” (unemployed workers) organizations and the FIT-U must put all their forces from their base assemblies to promote it! It is a question of life and death to defeat the social pact and throw out the trade union bureaucracy that have surrendered all our conquests and left us like pariahs without bread and without a roof!
Expropriation of the big hotel chains and the urban landowners! We want the best lands, Puerto Madero, all the luxury hotels and the closed neighborhoods of the rich for the working class families! We are not usurpers, we are the ones who produce all the wealth! Let Macri, Fernández and the CGT and CTA bureaucrats live in the streets or on inhospitable tracts of land, without services!
Housing and public works plans under the control of workers' organizations! Not a single peso to repay the fraudulent foreign debt. There's the money for housing, education and health!
Expropriation of the agrarian oligarchy without compensation and under the control of workers' organizations! There is more than enough productive land to feed all of Argentina and Latin America!
