CUBA
Faced with judicial frame-ups, the Communist Group, advisers to Díaz Canel, hold
The scandalous position of "mitigating the sentences" to political prisoners
Turning their backs on the fight for unconditional freedom for all the imprisoned youth and workers of the 11J
Before the judicial frame-ups that would take place between February 7 and 14 against the imprisoned demonstrators during the protests of July 11, 2021, the group "Comunistas de Cuba" of Frank García Hernández, one leader of the Communist Party of that country -who has "carnal relations" with the renegades of Trotskyism from all over the world- published a note (01/25) about the trials that makes the blood run cold.
We read and reread and cannot believe that in the name of defending political prisoners and after affirming that last year's protests were led by Cuban youth and workers driven by the demand for bread and decent housing, and against the deplorable living conditions endured on the island, ... he rejects the "disproportionate sentences" against the protesters! That is to say that political prisoners should not be given 20 years in prison… but "only" 10!
The government of Díaz Canel, which manages the sentences and the repression, lest a new workers' rebellion blow it up, has today sentenced the youth and workers to a few years less than what the prosecution requested, echoing Hernandez's advice.
In addition, from the statement that we mentioned, FGH calls for a pardon -which in itself denotes that there was actually a crime that should be forgiven- and only for minors "who have not attempted against people's lives"... But the ones who really attempted against the lives of the workers and the youth were the Cuban CP's henchmen! In addition, a young man was murdered by the repressive forces in the working-class neighborhood of La Guinera! The only violent ones who threaten the lives of the starving workers are the new bourgeois of the Communist Party, partners of European imperialism who got rich on the hardships of the poor people! Precisely the plainclothes' gangs of the CCP were the ones that came to break the heads of workers and young people who were claiming for bread.
These trials set up with fake witnesses and lies and the ferocity of their sentences are meant to punish and break the spines of the entire youth, the workers' vanguard, the mothers who fight for the freedom of their children, not only in Cuba but throughout Latin America. This was the testimony of the mother of 17-year-old Jonatan Torres Farrar, who denounced in the media the accusation against her son: “My son is accused of the alleged crimes of "attack, spreading an epidemic and public disorder" Supposedly, for throwing a stone to save my husband, his father. They have as evidence a video where my son is seen picking up a stone that the Police threw, and he throws it to attract attention and distract the police, so that his father could get out of where he was hiding from the Police gunshots.”. Another mother said “May the whole world unite and support us. We are not counterrevolutionaries, we are public servants and workers of this country, social workers, teachers, nurses, we need to be heard, they cannot be condemned and we will be with them until the end.” It is evident that Frank Hernández does not listen to the mothers but rather recognizes the "justice" of the jailers of their children.
Before the arrests on January 31, including that of Alexander Hall (member of Communists) and other activists of the self-styled "critical left", Frank García Hernández's group did correctly demand the release of these detainees, as it should be and we also demand. Up to now these activists have already been released. But demanding only the release of these detainees, separating this from a demand for immediate and unconditional release for all the political prisoners of 11J, shows that for Hernández there are prisoners who should be released and others who are rightly behind bars, or they should be liberated under certain conditions. As can be seen in the aforementioned note, which currents such as the PTS, Política Obrera (Workers' Policy T.N), Izquierda Socialista (Socialist Left T.N) and other renegades of Trotskyism re -print, the Communist group does not demand the unconditional freedom of all the prisoners of 11J.
And now that they have been sentenced, what do the militants of the currents that proclaim themselves revolutionary socialists in Latin America say, while they are leaving behind bars the young rebels who only defended themselves from the fierce repression and beatings of the thugs of the Cuban PC as the Front Lines of Chile and Colombia had done earlier? Are they going to put, without wasting time, all their forces to the service of fighting for their unconditional freedom calling the working class that fought in the revolutionary days in Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia, the mothers and relatives of the prisoners for fighting in Latin America and the US, etc., to take this demand into their hands?
If FGH really is against the repression of democratic freedoms, he should fight for the workers to have their independent unions, can self-organize and even form their own parties. If he claims to be with the working class and against the repressive policy of the Díaz Canel government, he would have to be fighting for the workers to organize themselves into committees to defend themselves against the thugs of the Communist Party and its police. Has he already carried out these actions?
The Communist Party carries out a regime of terror against the working class that has nothing to envy to the worst dictatorships that devastated the region in previous decades. Those who demonstrate or protest are beaten with batons, locked in their dungeons, tortured, their homes are spied, judicial frame-ups are forged against them, plus hundreds of other iniquities.
Is Frank Hernández then going to recognize the infamous Cuban authorities a right to administer justice and at the same time continue proclaiming that he belongs to the CP or is he going to burn and call to burn the membership card of this counterrevolutionary party?
This party, in the 1970s proclaimed the “peaceful path to socialism” or the “two-staged revolution”, continued to uphold this policy in the face of the revolutions that have broken out in recent years throughout the Americas. Its task was to divide and control the masses and submit them to class collaboration fronts as soon as they went out onto the streets for shaking the citadels of power. After applying this policy to divert and remove the masses from the scene, the new Cuban bourgeoisie was then able to continue the attack by means of the Tareas de ordenamiento (Order Tasks TN) and with the brutal counterrevolutionary attack against the working class that had gone out to ask for bread in July 2021. Thus also the advance of imperialism on the island became stronger.
Frank García Hernández is not going to burn his PC card, because he also openly supported the “progressive” bourgeois against “the right”, covered with a leftist cloak provided by his group of renegades from Trotskyism. They have presented the enemies of the working class as their allies in a clear policy of class collaboration. But the only true allies of the starving Cuban masses are their class siblings from all over Latin America and the United States.
Out with the hands of the Communist Party and its epigones, from the Fourth International!
The renegades of Trotskyism have abjured the socialist revolution in Cuba and do not call for the establishment of a Trotskyist party on the island, since they do not need it, they already have their common party there with Frank Hernández of the Communist Party. That "New Left" of Stalinists and renegades of Trotskyism can no longer speak in the name of Trotsky and the Fourth International, the party of the international socialist revolution, which stood up in combat against fascism and also against the "siren songs” of the Popular Front.
The Fourth International and its program have passed the tests of history and it is the only party worth fighting for. The fight to refound Cuban Trotskyism is an immediate task because Trotskyism is the only party that states that in the imperialist countries the enemy is at home, that the greatest ally the workers of the imperialist countries have are their class siblings, from the peoples oppressed by their own imperialism. It is the party that states that the victory of the struggles for national liberation and to recover the land in an oppressed country can only be achieved with the victory of the socialist revolution. It is the party that confronted Stalinism, which had handed over every revolutionary process on the planet and that with its policy of "socialism in one country" left the USSR isolated, the same policy, as we see, that left the Cuban workers' state isolated and with which the bases for the capitalist restoration in the island were prepared.
We believe then that the task is to recover the Fourth International, our world party, because the crux is to recover militant internationalism, defeating Stalinism, so that the Cuban working class is able to see that its future is resolved with the success of the Colombian, Chilean, American and Worldwide Socialist Revolution.
