Milei and Bullrich occupy the University of the Madres de Plaza de Mayo with their police, as in times of the military dictatorship

Hands off of the University of Las Madres!

From Democracia Obrera we repudiate and condemn Milei & Bullrich’s police provocation against Las Madres, university autonomy, workers and the poor people.

After Milei's government ordered a month ago, the intervention of the University of Las Madres, violating its autonomy and imposing new authorities, it occupied the university headquarters with the Federal Police, preventing teachers and students from entering or leaving the University.

This police attack on the Madres de Plaza de Mayo is a political attack, not only on the universities and their autonomy, but also on the historic struggle against the genocide of the working class and youth in the 1970s.

The attack on Las Madres is not a coincidence. It is part of the escalation of persecution and repression of workers' and human rights organizations by Milei’s government and its police regime, which under the command of the US embassy, is trying to get the military thugs back on the streets.

This government attack, supported by all the bosses' parties and the traitors of the union bureaucracy that let it slide to the fullest extent, must be confronted, as Milei comes to wipe out all the workers' conquests and democratic freedoms that have cost us blood. If the working class lets this happen, tomorrow factories will be occupied.

Students, university teachers and non-teaching staff, human rights organisations, organisations of militant trade unionism and the piquetero movement must set up a united committee in defence of universities and workers' organisations. We must promote international solidarity and mobilisation to Argentine embassies around the world against the attack by Milei's government on the University of Las Madres.

An urgent call for the coordination of resistance struggles to organise a response to Milei's attack is worth more than the statements of "opposition" MPs, who do not stop any provocation by the government.

Let’s set up a national struggle committee before it is too late.

We must stop this government of hunger, repression and attacks on democratic freedoms with the working-class methods: strikes, pickets and the general strike!

We must confront this attack head-on, from a government supported by all the bourgeois parties and the traitors of the union bureaucracy. Hands off from the Universidad de Madres de Plaza de Mayo by the state and its police! An injury to one is an injury to all!
