Comrade Carlos Santiso,
until the victory of the international socialist revolution!
Tribute from the International Secretariat of the FLTI
by Milenka López, Carlos Munzer and Walter Montoya
It was December 20, 2001, at Diagonal Norte Street. Thousands were fighting to end with De La Rúa's government and the infamous regime through a decisive action.
Hundreds of militants from the '80s and '90s who had abandoned the impotent experience of the old MAS, which had splintered over and over again, were looking for a place in the working class where they could deepen their revolutionary combat...
And Carlitos was there, that day, December 20. By his side, comrades Chiquito and David Soria were also fighting.
De La Rua fell.
Thousands were struggling to find a revolutionary alternative.
Through class activism, Comrade Soria succeeded in recovering the internal commission of the factory Paty. Carlitos and Chiquito were also part of that fight.
The “three of the Diagonal Norte street” joined the ranks of the Trotskyists who, after breaking with the reformism of the PTS, led an internationalist fight to refound the Fourth International.
For more than 20 years, Carlitos have never abandoned that fight for the revolution and gave his life to the Fourth International.
Today we say goodbye to him with our fists raised high.
We know that that place on Diagonal Norte street will once again be filled with barricades... We know that the resolute fight to recover the flags of the Fourth International from the hands of those who betrayed it must be deepened more than ever. Hundreds today and thousands tomorrow continue and will continue that fight.
A revolutionary generation is beginning to leave. But, for our revolutionary honor, their fight is not and will not be in vain.
The thing is that Carlitos, with his revolutionary, current fought in the trenches of the Syrian revolution, in the Plaza de la Dignidad in Chile, in the First Line in Colombia, in the Marikana mine in South Africa and in hundreds of battles of the international proletariat.
Carlitos leaves us. A firm and everyday militant, respected and loved by all his team and branch comrades and by the vanguard workers with whom he fought all his life. He was one of the indispensable ones...
Carlitos, until the victory of the international socialist revolution! Thus, with its victory, the lives of so many militants dedicated to it will reach its full magnitude before the great masses.
