TERMINAL 5 WORKERS' ASSEMBLY
THE DOCK WORKERS' STRUGGLE CONTINUES!
The Buenos Aires Port dock workers held an assembly after having imposed on the Ministry of Transport the extension of the concession for Terminal 5 until 2024, after a year and a half of hard struggle against the closure of the terminal and the outsourcing of workers.
More than 200 comrades participated in the assembly, where they showed their emotion for this step forward achieved.
There the Body of Delegates made it clear that if today the judges and the ministries have had to back down from the attempt to introduce the labor reform in the port, it was due to the unity and the struggle of the companions. They thanked the solidarity of the port union groups, the Union of Foremen and Stevedores, other sectors such as the Río Santiago Shipyard workers and the socialist currents that approached them.
There was no shortage of shouts and chants against the traitors of the FeMPINRA (Maritime Port and Naval Industry Federation of the Argentine Republic, NT) bureaucracy, the hatred of the workers against the scabs who conspired with the government, Maersk company and TRP (Rio de la Plata Terminals) to leave 800 families on the streets.
But everyone knows that while a great step forward has been achieved, the fight is not over. Until the ships with their cargo return to be loaded/unloaded at the dock, victory cannot be claimed.
That is why they decided to carry out two new mobilizations in the coming days, with a date to be confirmed. The companions will not stop until they achieve the objective of returning the actual work to the terminal.
Long live the struggle of the Terminal 5 workers! |
