JAPAN:
A message of solidarity to the December 12th
International Fighting Day Action
November 25th, 2015
We, the JRCL, are sending an ardent message of solidarity to you, the Commission of Condemned Workers, Family and Friends of Las Heras. On behalf of workers and students fighting in Japan, we express our solidarity to all the people who are striving to end the repression and persecution against fighters all around the world.
Here in Japan, workers and toiling people are tenaciously continuing their efforts to block the construction of a new US base in Okinawa. Day after day at the construction site, a flotilla of protesting canoes with young Zengakuren students taking the lead are fighting to stop the landfill work, while on land, in front of the US base next to the construction site, workers, students and residents are carrying on with their sit-in protest to block construction vehicles. Against these protesters, the Japanese state power has launched an outrageous repression by mobilizing a massive police force.
Many old Okinawans, who have tragic wartime experiences joined the sit-in protest, with a determination never to let a war take place again (During the Second World War, more than a hundred thousand islanders were victimized in the battles between the US and Japanese imperialist armies). These ‘grandpas’ and ‘grandmas’ were violently attacked by riot police dispatched from Tokyo. Honestly, this was an act of mad dogs! Such an act could never be carried out by the local police. At sea, the forces of the Coast Guard are striking down young canoe protesters and plunging them into the water. We denounce these acts of repression! Seething with anger, fighting people in Japan are continuing resolute struggle to block the new US base construction in Okinawa, the forefront of US imperialism’s military encircling net against China.
Japan’s ultra-reactionary Prime Minister Abe is desperate to bring Japan into a ‘first-rate imperialist power’ capable of ‘waging war in the world over’ together with the United States. His government has already ordered Japanese forces to tag along with US forces in their military provocative actions everywhere in the world; they are not limited to the South China Sea. A nuclear aircraft carrier (USS George Washington Carrier Strike Group) departed Yokosuka, Japan, sailed to the south Pacific, thence to Peru and other South American countries, displaying its military strength. Japanese warships were accompanying this voyage of the US military all the way. We will not allow this kind of provocative actions taken by US and Japanese imperialism! At the same time, we resolutely oppose China’s nuclear military strengthening in rivalry with the US.
On top of all that, the Japanese government, on the pretext of the recent terrorist attacks in France, has taken sides with rulers of the US, France and Russia and started to cry out for massacring people in the Middle East in the name of ‘war on terror’. Taking this opportunity, this government is further tightening up its security controls at home to root out all the trade unions, student associations and other groups of people that are fighting against the government. We shall never allow this offensive. We are continuing our struggle in determined opposition to the oppression of struggles by the labour aristocrats who make up the trade union leaderships, as well as to the parliamentarianist distortion of struggles by the Japanese Communist Party leadership. We are persistently advancing our struggle aiming to overthrow the neo-fascist Abe government with the militant fight of workers and toiling people.
Comrades of Argentina and the world!
Wars of mass slaughter and fascistic, autocratic rules are raging all over the globe. The power to break them down lies precisely in the unity of the workers and the toiling masses of the world who are fighting indomitably against repression and persecution.
On the very same day of December 12th, when you are rising worldwide for the international fighting day, militant workers and students of Japan, too, will be fighting a fierce battle in front of the US base in Okinawa in firm solidarity with you all. Let us fight together!
