The murderous regime of the Iranian theocracy wants to terrorize with imprisonment, torture and executions the exploited who rise up against hunger and for bread
The working class and poor people are not only taking to the streets to avoid dying of hunger, but to demand the freedom of their prisoners, who are being beaten, confined in solitary, shocked, raped and martyred by the Khamenei regime of terror. It is a clerical dictatorship, murderer of the Syrian people, which relentlessly persecutes workers' and human rights fighters and anyone who "dares" to make even the slightest claim.
Only in the 2019 protests there were 1500 injured, hundred skilled and 8000 arrested, many of whom are still in prison. Three of them, Amir Hossein Moradi, Sabed Tamjidi and Mohammad Rajabi, have just been sentenced to death, along with journalist Ruhollah Zam. They join hundreds of others on death row, including Houshmand Alipour. The demand to prevent the executions of these activists and against all death sentences were part of the days of struggle on July 16 in the streets of the Iranian cities of Behbahan and Shiraz. An international day was also held on 18 July, with demonstrations in 17 cities around the world against executions and death sentences.
Workers who fought on the frontlines of the strikes, such as Haft Tappeh in 2018, are still being persecuted and thrown out of their jobs, as are activists who supported this struggle, such as the young Sepideh Golean. She has been arrested again a few days ago for refusing to apologize to the tyrant Khamenei.
In addition to jailing the fighters and sentencing them to dozens of years in prison and whipping, in order to be released on parole, the court requires the families of the detainees to post excessive bail, so they must mortgage their homes and go into debt for life. But this is only until "justice" decides that they have to be locked up again, and at that point, even if fortunes have been paid, the workers are locked up again.
Murder by repressive forces is common place in this state of terror and death. There were thousands of people killed in the uprisings of November 2019. But in particular, these murderous forces have taken their toll on the youth, as they did a few days ago with the death of the young man from Omeyadani (17 years old) who was shot by the security forces last Monday.
The demand for the freedom of political prisoners is always present in every struggle of the workers in Iran. Last June 20th was the day of struggle of the International Day in Support of Iranian Political Prisoners, organized by the Campaign for the Freedom of Iranian Political Prisoners. The sugar workers of Haft Tappeh, who have been on strike for a month for the payment of their wages due, have just obtained the freedom of 4 of their detained comrades. The struggle in the streets is the way to free the political prisoners from the clutches of the Iranian theocracy! Stop persecuting and imprisoning the fighters! No to executions! Free all political prisoners!
