Comrades, from here, I am a little excited. I wanted to say hello. Send a hug to everyone… Claudia, Omar, Facundo's mother.
Four years ago, the comrades were sentenced to life imprisonment. Then the comrades said: "to achieve our freedom and our acquittal we need all the workers of the world". So, together with other organizations they set up the International Network, with comrades from Mexico, the relatives of the 43, with the widows of the miners murdered in South Africa, in Marikana, and with comrades who are inside prisons like George Abdallah, the Palestinian prisoners and even the Greek prisoners. We started this fight all together for the freedom of all political prisoners.
On 12/12 here we organized a rally at the Argentinian Embassy with different organizations such as the CGT - which is not the Argentinian one, but that of the Spanish State-, with the union of the comrades of the Subway, the transport workers union, with comrades of the Mapuche Coordinator here, with human rights organizations such as Mothers Against Repression. Sometimes it is symbolic, but we thought it was important to deliver a note at the Argentinian Embassy saying that we were not asking for the acquittal of our comrades of Las Heras, nor that we had come to ask for the release of Facundo Jones Huala, we demanded this and we say the Argentine State is responsible for the murder of Santiago Maldonado and Rafael Nahuel.
We want you to know that you are not alone. We have never left you alone. They will not be alone. Here all the comrades always ask how you are and that we are all together in this struggle for freedom.
It touches me very closely because I lived with them for almost 3 years. I was with them during the trial. And when Claudia was talking, the image of her with Valentin in her arms listening to such a sentence, came to my mind. We all thought he was going to faint there. And there you see her strong, fighting for her and for all her comrades.
Four years later I say again what I said in that video: those who deserve applause are the comrades who are convicted and keep raising their voices, they are their relatives, it is Facundo's mother who is still fighting, they are the relatives of all political prisoners. And that is what we have to try to unite, so that from jail to jail, they listen to each other, join and go out to fight and we can see them all free. Nothing else comrades. |
