There are thousands migrants gathering the harvests in the Spanish State so that the vast majority of the population can have food in the current situation of confinement. Most in the rural working class are undocumented African or Moroccan migrants without a contract and living in subhuman conditions.
Crowded in settlements, within makeshift “houses” made of four plastic sheets (named chabolas) without water, electricity or gas, tens of thousands of day laborers survive in Huelva, Lepe, Almería and other sectors of Andalusia, over-exploited by Spanish landowners.
In the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, these large landowners do not care about the lives of these workers. Offering their workers a minimun hygiene and sanitation for human habitability has never been a preoccupation for them in normal times, much less now.
They force them to work, threatening to fire even sick people, they do not give them water or the necessary conditions to live, nor alcohol gel and even less masks.
With the alarm state, the government has militarized the entire field and those thousands of day laborers who work off the books do not even have a piece of paper to show they are working for the police not to stop them nor to be fined when they walk kilometers to get to their jobs.
In Nijar the situation is the same or worse, more than 4,000 farm workers live crowded in settlements in the middle of the field without drinking water, without disinfectant, without light, without masks or gloves. The same thing happens in El Chorrillo or Lepe and so many places. Their lives do not matter for the bourgeoisie, the governments, or the union bureaucracy; they don't even exist, because they are "illegal", "without papers".
DAMN EXPLOITERS! Thousands of families survive crowded without water and without food. The government and the landowners ARE CONDEMNING the thousands of migrants TO DEATH, those who pick the strawberry, the olive, etc. so that the rest of the population can eat.
We urgently need a State Committee on Public Health, led by the working class, because it's only us who are interested in the lives of those below, the capitalists and landowners are only interested in their profits.
