DAY OF INTERNATIONAL SOLIDARITY WITH THE WORKERS AND THE PEOPLE'S UPRISING OF COLOMBIA
Felipe Cruces – Partido Obrero Internacionalista (CI) of Chile
“We feel enthused by the struggle of Colombian workers because that is the path we have to follow in Chile”
Good afternoon. I wanted to talk about the betrayal, deviation and deception of the constituent process to which the Chilean revolutionary masses were led, after starring in a formidable struggle in 2019. This deviation is synthesized today in the Constituent Convention, whose representatives will be elected in the coming weeks. This betrayal was carried out by all the union bureaucracies grouped in the Social Unity Board with the CUT led by the Communist Party, together with the former Concertacion and other reformists, to divert the revolutionary process that began in October 2019.
Within days of having started the revolutionary combat in Colombia, the Chilean proletariat intervened in the ports again, with a strike that lasted 3 days and continued on the 26th and 27th of last month. This came to connect with the process that was brewing in Colombia. Thus, with the intervention of this key sector of the Chilean proletariat, this constituent trap tended to be broken in order to resume the fight for dignity, to take revenge for everything that was taken from us and to be able to give continuity to the fight we started in 2019.
We see with enthusiasm the struggle that the Colombian workers are leading because that is the path we have to follow in Chile. Re-building the First Line, but this time in each port, in each mine, in each factory, so that they also arrive in support of our imprisoned and maimed comrades.
Today, if the struggle in Colombia continues, it’s because they haven’t succumbed to the siren songs of Petro and the shameless reformist leaderships. The Colombian siblings must not stray from that path. It’s the one that Chilean workers must follow, so that the proletariat once again weighs in national life with its methods of struggle, conquering the general strike, throwing out Piñera, ending the Constitution of '80 and joining in a single revolutionary action with our brothers and sisters in Colombia.
