Tribute in the 5th anniversary of Abu Al Baraa's death
Abu Izen al Homsi, a courageous combatant who knew how to fight side by side with Abd el Basset Sarout facing Bashar and the treacherous leaderships, who resisted the siege inside Homs for more than 5 years, and today he is a correspondent for the newspaper The Truth of the Oppressed
“In these territories we got rid of the dog Bashar, but 100 more generals came, much worse than Bashar”
Greetings to all who are here present. It’s an honor to give my tribute to Abu Al Baraa, our hero. On this day I would like to give an overview of the situation today within Syria, especially within the liberated territories.
Although we came from weeks in which nothing happened, a couple of days ago there was a bombing in Ariha, similar to the ones we are already used to, by the planes of the Russian occupation and the Assad regime. They have bombed a school, where at least 13 have been killed, including young people, children and women.
Every day we add more martyrs whom we have to honor. We are aware that all the martyrs of Syria must be honored, from Mahmoud Abu Al Baraa to Abd el Basset Sarout and also all those who fell in combat or were bombed, women and children as well, all those who fought for the freedom and dignity within Syria.
Russia and Iran will not be long in preparing a last attack to advance and destroy the last remaining stronghold of resistance in Idlib. They want to finish annihilating the revolution, also together with Turkey. Turkey is the enemy of the revolution, because it’s the friend of the enemy of the Syrian revolution.
As Russia, the regime and Iran prepare to invade Idlib, it’s necessary for everyone to know that we live under the oppression of two governments in the north. We have a government of Turkey in the Euphrates Shield area and we have the government of HTS in Idlib. Both are the ones which today govern with a military hand the territory that we revolutionaries liberated.
We suffer terrible oppression by these governments, but we also suffer from hunger and misery that we face every day. We are revolutionaries who go out to fight for justice, for freedom and for dignity, but if we take to the streets today, HTS tells us that we are shabihas (people of al-Assad) and they imprison us.
The calamity we are experiencing is great in the face of devaluation and the increasing cost of life. Today one dollar is equal to 10 Turkish liras, the currency in circulation here. An average Syrian worker can earn around U$D 2 a day, 20 lira, working 12 hours. Half a kilo of bread today already costs 2.50 lira (25 U$D cents). The gas cylinder that used to be at 80 liras now it’s at 120 liras (12 U$D). The average wage of every worker, employee, teacher, etc. rounds U$D 60/65 a month. But it isn’t enough for all the expenses that need to be made here in the liberated zone. And whoever of us wants to fight this situation and confronts HTS, is imprisoned. Thus, HTS prisons are full of workers and revolutionaries.
Today we are clear that our revolution is a revolution of the workers, of us that put the spine every day. We fight against the rich and those who are getting richer at the cost of our blood. Unfortunately the people are frightened. And if you had to sell some of what you have to survive, because the money you earn is not enough, the HTS government taxes you at gunpoint. If you don't pay the tax, they take what you're selling and put you in jail. We draw the conclusion that, unfortunately, in these territories we got rid of the dog Bashar, but 100 more generals came, much worse than Bashar.
We pay tribute to Abu Al Baraa for the political leader that he was. We should establish a day to remember martyrs like him, the political martyrs of the whole world, the revolutionaries who gave their lives to fight for freedom, for dignity, for a future for his children. We must remember all these young people from Syria, Argentina, Chile, from all over Latin America, from France, from all over the world, who gave their lives for the world working class.
I send a huge greeting to everyone here.
