Voices from Syria

Out with all the occupiers that are robbing us our nation and our wealth!

Enough of the al-Jolani government, supported by Erdogan, expropriator of our revolution!

We fought for almost 14 years to overthrow the Assadist dictatorship. We left 600,000 martyrs, including my father and my older brother. 15 million of us were displaced, having to leave our homes, which were destroyed, and everything we owned was stolen. We left our blood, our families, our homes, to finally defeat that fascist al-Assad,  arriving in Damascus at the beginning of December last year. And yet, despite everything, we haven't conquered freedom, bread, or recovered our homes, and we have a government that doesn't represent our interests.
From our tents in the desert, we returned to our homes and found them completely destroyed, if not looted or directly occupied by shabihas of the old regime. Today we continue fighting to make justice against these shabihas who murdered our families, to recover the homes they seized from us, and while al-Jolani's police patrol the area only to collect taxes to maintain the state administration of Damascus, our rights are being taken away by the old regime.

Our homes and our country have been thoroughly devastated. We have no water, no electricity, no work; the petty, temporary jobs aren't enough to support us... and what has “our” government, which poses as revolutionary, done? Nothing. It makes promises to us while guaranteeing all the occupiers of Syria  to continue stealing what's ours. USA with the Kurdish bourgeoisie in the northeast, the remnants of the old regime with the Alawite bourgeoisie on the coast, Turkey with the Sunni bourgeoisie in the north, the Druze with the Zionist occupation in the south... And what about us?
We have taken to the streets to fight for our rights, to protest, but the new al-Jolani government has issued a resolution stating that anyone who fares to fight will be considered an enemy of the Syrian revolution and an Assadist, and must be treated as such. It has again banned all protests.

So, a government that protects the occupation and partition of Syria, that ensures these thieves to steal all our wealth, that deprives us of our homes, jobs, and a decent life, that doesn't let us demonstrate freely, that keeps thousands of political prisoners—what does it have to envy al-Assad? It's the same dog with a different collar! It even maintains the Russian bases it refuses to touch, and also the same Turkish occupation, which is al-Jolani's main supporter. More than a supporter, Erdogan is al-Jolani's boss. If yesterday we had a government supported by Iran and Russia, today we have it supported by Turkey, but always by the same regime of the Geneva-Astana-Sochi conference, where all the occupiers win, except the Syrian people, who always lose.
And the first winner is the USA, which have seized the oil, followed by Zionism, which has seized the waters of the Golan Heights and the rich lands of Houran, followed by the Alawite bourgeoisie, which has stolen the riches of the banks and taken them to Russia and Lebanon, and Erdogan as custodian of Syria's oil pipelines and the trade and industrial and livestock production, now also managing Damascus, its central bank and taxes, and who together with USA, also shares the other resources of water and hydroelectricity of the Euphrates.

Enough with the looting! Out with all the invading troops, they are the thieves who steal our riches! We want our Syrian nation! We want our homes, electricity, water, and an infrastructure worthy of a decent life! They have led Syria back to the pre-1950s, in the hands of imperialism and all the agents of the Geneva and Astana conferences. Enough!
Enough with governments that portray themselves as friends of the revolution and only come to expropriate it! Enough with alleged friends like Erdogan who super-exploits i'm his country 4 million Syrian workers without any rights! We want bread, decent work, a salary equal to the market basket, and to recover our homes and our entire infrastructure! We want to recover our nation! This means freedom.
But we can only achieve this by evicting the occupiers and expropriating without compensation the oil wells, the banks, and all the businessmen, and putting those funds to a public works plan that rebuilds our nation and provides jobs for everbody with a decent wage.
We must establish committees of workers and unemployed to fight for jobs for all, and of refugees to fight for housing, supplies, and price controls. The arms we won in the revolution must be at the service of these committees.

In Syria, we are confronting the Russian, USA, Israeli, and Turkish armies... That's why it's necessary to unite with the struggle of all our brothers and sisters in the Middle East and the struggle of the working class internationally, especially in the central countries. Our main allies are the Palestinian resistance, which is fighting against Zionism, which occupies and massacres both them and us, and also the workers who have already risen up in Turkey, confronting that anti-worker, repressive, murderous colonialist Erdogan, who poses as our friend and for years has done nothing but making deals with Russia and USA over our bloodshed.
The imperialist war machine must be paralyzed! For the destruction of the Zionist-fascist State of Israel!
Imperialist oil companies must be expropriated throughout the Middle East! Throughout the Middle East, one battle against the same enemy: imperialism and its agents!
