Zohran Mamdani, candidate from the imperialist Democratic Party, wins the New York mayoral race
Against the attack on migrants, the massacre in Palestine and “king” Trump…
Millions of workers and youth have started the fight
Under the imposture of a “socialist” candidate…
The Wall Street pirates seek to contain “from the left” the mass offensive against the murderous government of Trump
Last Tuesday, November 5th, the Democratic Party, which left power with Biden leading the massacre in Gaza and fiercely attacking the US working class, emerged victorious in the elections held in three US states.
The Democrats won the governorship of New Jersey and Virginia (where they fielded a CIA officer as their candidate). But the most significant victory was in the New York City mayoral race, where Zohran Mamdani, the self-proclaimed “immigrant,” “Muslim,” and even “socialist” candidate, won.
Mamdani is a member of a wing within the imperialist Democratic Party known as the "Democratic Socialists of America" (DSA), led by the billionaire and pro-Zionist Sanders. For years, they have supported every imperialist bandit in the Democratic Party who has run for office: from the political imposter Obama, who bailed out the imperialist banks in 2008, to the genocidal Biden.
These “democratic socialists” of the DSA are not “socialists” because they do not call on the working class of the semi-colonial countries to rise up to crush the imperialist beast… Nor do they call on the workers of the USA to expropriate Wall Street and attack the large transnational corporations and banks, which threw their entire crisis at them.
Nor are they “democratic”: they condemned the heroic Palestinian resistance and openly supported Biden. That is why some members of this movement were expelled and repudiated by the pro-Palestinian youth movement for being complicit in the genocide in Gaza.
The victory of the Democratic Party in New York with an imperialist “left-wing” bourgeois candidate occurred when huge sectors of the masses are fighting the brutal war declared on them by the Trump administration; the same battles being waged with revolutionary flashes by broad sectors of the working class and the oppressed peoples of the world.
In response to the fascist attack on the 30 million migrant workers, crucial and one of the most exploited sectors of the US workforce, the Battles of Los Angeles and Chicago was waged, with broad sectors of the US working class standing up alongside their Hispanic class siblings. In response, Trump deployed Marines and the National Guard to dozens of cities and states across the country, effectively declaring martial law and carrying out mass arrests of migrants.
While pro-Palestinian youth continue their fight against the genocide in Gaza, massive mobilizations have taken in more than 2,000 cities shouting "No Kings" and for the general strike, openly confronting the Trump government.
In addition, sectors of war veterans are once again taking to the streets against the deployment of marines in US cities, protesting for the fascist attacks in the Caribbean and supporting the Palestinian masses, making it imperative that the powerful Anti-War Movement resurface, which yesterday, from within the imperialist beast, inflicted the worst defeats to Wall Street in Iraq and before that in Vietnam.
These major battlefronts demonstrate the trend towards mass eruption in the US, which are occurring outside the control of the Democratic Party and for now are preventing Trump from having a free hand to finish imposing his Bonapartist attempts to discipline the working class in order to pursue higher political and military adventures around the world.
The “socialist” Mamdani, covered up by the entire social-imperialist left parties of the world, which embellishes him as if he were a “revolutionary,” has not had and has nothing to do, in his electoral proposals nor in street actions, with any of these mass struggles in USA. He comes to get the exploited off the streets with three or four minimal measures and demagogic promises, some derisory; like the one that says opening municipal supermarkets in New York can force Walmart and the big food chains to lower their prices… What a “socialist” and “anti-imperialist fighter” who wouldn't even rakea can of tuna from Walmart!
Moreover, Mamdani maintained a shameful silence regarding the attacks and invasion that USA is preparing against Venezuela, and he also fails to denounce the subjugation that US imperialism exerts over the nations it oppresses through the IMF and with openly counter-revolutionary or fascist governments to maintain its business in the world.
We are witnessing a new scam by the Democratic Party, which specializes in deceiving the masses in struggle, when they have been and are the greatest warmongers of the Wall Street pirates.
The Democratic Party is dressing up as Mamdani to regain prestige to contain the massive mass struggles in the US
The global reformist left, which has celebrated Mamdani's victory, some of them unhinged, have become veritable chatterboxes and propagandists for this infamous trap set by the Democratic Party.
Far from what currents like the English SWP of Callinicos claim, which went so far as to suggest that "Mamdani's victory plunges US imperialism into panic", it is the masses of USA in struggle who keep the butchers of US imperialism on edge and terrify them.
That is precisely why the US establishment is launching a new face with Mamdani as the "left wing" of the Democratic Party, to divert and contain "from the left" the struggles of the exploited in USA and take them off the streets, creating the illusion that Trump can be stopped with elections.
The life of the US imperialist bourgeoisie depends on recovering the Democratic Party, which left power deeply hated by the masses for imposing the worst plans of high cost of living and misery against the workers and exploited, even at a higher level than that applied during the first Trump administration.
That is why millions did not vote for the Democratic Party in the last presidential elections and Trump won, voted for even by large sectors of the white working class, whom the “Democrats” Obama and Biden openly attacked to save the imperialist banks, taking away all their conquests.
The old and worn-out “left wing” impostures of the Democratic Party of the Wall Street counter-revolutionary pirates: a brutal deception to the masses
“You can put lipstick on a pig”… but it is still a pig, with make-up on it. That is what the rise of this “socialist” in New York is all about, desperately trying to take off the masses from the path of the revolutionary struggle.
Mamdani's current charade is no different from what the Democrats did in 2008, when the Bush administration was cornered by the exploited. A powerful Anti-War movement had emerged, forcing the US withdrawal from Iraq, while the masses marched to occupy Wall Street.
At that moment, US pirates dressed up the Democratic Party of Obama, the "first black president in history." Stalinism and the entire Latin American left were shouting from Havana: "There is no longer an enemy in the White House." They were saying this at a time when the Democratic Party, with Obama in power, was nationalizing their debts and subsidizing the Wall Street parasites with more than $600 billion, as they went bankrupt one after another with the bursting of the real estate and financial bubbles of 2008.
The so-called “progressive” Obama, who in his inaugural address as president said “I extend my hand to the Muslim peoples,” as a way of covering up his snap withdrawal from Iraq, was responsible for unleashing one of the biggest attacks in history on the US labor movement, throwing them the entire crisis and capitalist crash of USA.
Workers were stripped of social benefits, pensions, working conditions, etc. There were towns left completely empty without factories or businesses, like Detroit.
They made mortgage payments impossible. Millions were left homeless.
This is what the "black president" did so that the US workers and people would pay for the scam, the parasitism, and the theft of the Wall Street bandits, who made 90 trillion dollars disappear with which they had inflated their profits, the value of their companies, and their control of world trade.
Obama's actions were a complete deception and a lie designed to drive the masses off the streets, where a powerful Anti-War Movement, as we saw, forced the withdrawal of US marines from Iraq and threatened to unleash a new Vietnam in the streets of Washington. The working class was divided. A huge sector lost all its conquests, its jobs, and even its life. This was the social base upon which Trump began to demagogically build his campaign to win his first term in 2017.
This is how the "Republicrats" regime in USA had been functioning: with a "center" that voted for all the laws necessary for the functioning of US imperialism and the Democratic Party with a "left wing" containing the masses.
This was openly demonstrated during the revolutionary struggles led by the Black labor movement against the first Trump government in 2020. In response to the murder of George Floyd, a chain of mass uprisings swept through cities and states across the country. In Minnesota, the Democrat governor was expelled from every assembly and mobilization of workers and the poor people, who rose up chanting “Disband the police!” and “No justice, no peace!”
This widespread mass mobilization threatened to bring down the Trump administration through street protests. Then it was the turn of the “democratic socialists,” that demonstrated what they existed for: Sanders’s “socialist campaign,” which garnered millions of votes in the Democratic primaries, was intended to contain "from the left" the rise of the masses, the hatred of the black movement, and the defeat of white supremacists in the streets, and to give his full support to Biden.
It was the DSA that took the Black movement and the masses off the streets and supported the Biden administration, which implemented the plan Trump had failed to do: while he commanded the start of the genocide in Gaza, he imposed on workersa brutal increase of the cost of living, recession with inflation, and unaffordable rents, that remained at the level of the real state bubble. It was Biden who left 40 million workers in USA living on a single hot meal a day from soup kitchens.
That is what the return of the repressive and murderous scoundrel Trump to government is all about: nothing but the perfidious role of the Democratic Party and its "socialist left wing" against the working class and all exploited sectors of the USA.
The recent electoral trap in New York was, therefore, in service oftrying to restore the prestige of the Democratic Party. The establishment is seeking to protect itself in case Trump fails both in his Bonapartist offensive against democratic freedoms in the US and in his counter-revolutionary misdeeds internationally.
It is no coincidence then that Mamdani, who had the support of the absolute majority of the workers and the people of New York, did not run as a candidate of a socialist party in the elections, but rather appeared on the Democratic Party ballot.
Cuomo, the "right-wing" Democratic Party candidate who lost the primaries, followed through: he ran as an independent. Why did not Mamdani do the same to confront the Wall Street Democratic Party?
And yet this man was portrayed as a “socialist” by all the left-wing parties in USA and internationally! To try to pass off a Citibank and JP Morgan fraudster as a “socialist” is an outrage.
False illusions and, contradictorily, the sense of justice that reside in the millions of votes that went to Mamdani are one thing, but the poison that he and the social-imperialists introduce to the masses is quite another. That is why Marxists have an obligation to tell them the truth, however painful it may be: the more the bourgeoisie dresses up in "rrrrred" to deceive the people, the more we must denounce it, because it is a deadly trap designed to drive the exploited out from the streets so that Trump can then come and crush them. That's what the "mermaid songs" are all about... Yes, the "mermaid songs" of the perfidious class collaboration policies of the self-proclaimed "socialists" inside the imperialist Democratic Party, the party of the murderers of Vietnam and Gaza, the organizers of counter-revolutionary coups around the world, the supporters of the IMF and the military bases and centurions with which USA controls the planet... Wretches.
No matter how much the reformist gentlemen want to continue lying about Mamdani, we revolutionary Trotskyists affirm that we are not dealing with a socialist, an anti-imperialist fighter, nor even with a consistent democrat.
Mamdani, the center-left representative of the Wall Street pirates: A rare “socialist” who does not propose any anti-capitalist measures against the imperialist parasites
As we already mentioned, Mamdani's election campaign was based on promises to freeze rents, build housing, create municipal daycare centers and supermarkets with "affordable prices," etc. etc. But being in an imperialist power, Mamdani does not propose a single measure that directly attacks the businesses, property, and interests of the US imperialist bourgeoisie.
Mamdani boasts of being just a “migrant,” but remains silent about the fact that Marines, under Trump’s orders and the genocidal Pentagon officials, transformed every city militarized against migrants into training camps with the purpose of preparing troops to storm countries, as the Trump administration is preparing to do in Venezuela.
Mamdani claims to be “pro-Palestinian.” Yet he doesnot call to stop and defeat the US war machine that organized the genocide in Gaza and is about to invade Venezuela!
Mamdani has not called for any action to rise up the labor movement, the homeless, etc., by proposing the nationalization of banks without compensation and the non-recognition of their usurious mortgage loans.
Mamdani is far from calling for defeating Trump in the streets. His sole objective is the resurgence of the imperialist Democratic Party and playing the same role previously played by Obama or the pro-Zionist Sanders, his public supporters.
Renegades from Marxism such as Callinicos of the British SWP or Congresswoman Bregman of the PTS/FIT-U of Argentina celebrate Mamdani's victory like a child who has been given an ice cream.
Callinicos portrays Mamdani as if the latter were Lenin, Trotsky, or Che Guevara, who supposedly “created terror among imperialist bankers,” as we saw. This is an outrage against Marxism and to the US working class.
From Buenos Aires, the “socialist” Bregman, in love with Mamdani’s electoral campaign, states thatMamdani’sprogram is the same one they have been fighting for and that the FIT-U of Argentina must fight for it, with minimal concrete proposals in order to be an alternative for the masses… She says so with total shamelessness, without proposing any anti-capitalist measures, just like Mamdani.
This was stated in a post on November 5th, where she affirmed that his seat in Parliament will be at the service of organizing the fight "so that the City of Buenos Aires ceases to be a city that excludes working families, so that the subway and all public transportation are not a heavy burden on our wallets, so that we fight for housing against real estate speculation, for public health and education, for culture, art and the rights of women and gender-diverse individuals, for youth"...
This is an openly capitalist program with some “reforms” disguised as electoral demagoguery… But at least Mamdani calls himself a “socialist” to deceive the masses. Bregman is ashamed to even say so, and when asked, she says that “socialism is for the future”…
Argentina is an example of what happened to food cooperatives, soup kitchens, and cheap markets of the unemployed... After the first decisive blow from the regime and the government in power, everything was gone.
Parliamentarian Bregman, as well as Mr. Callinicos, are going out of their way, like a magician, to hide the Democratic Party, of which Mamdani was a candidate, insidetheir top hat, so that they can paint it as "red" and "socialist".
They hide the fact that Obama and Kamala Harris, the last presidential candidate and vice president of the genocidal Biden, were promoters of Mamdani's electoral campaign.
Mr. Callinicos and Dr. Bregman, along with their minions, want to repeat this experiment in London and Buenos Aires. It's quite clear, in the case of Argentina, they would have no shame in running as socialist candidateson the lists of the bourgeois Peronist party. Stop hiding.
Seeing the positions of the PTS or Callinicos of England on Mamdani, the bourgeoisie knows that it can count on them when they are needed.
Against the deceptions of the new “leftist” scams of the imperialist Democratic Party,
"King" Trump is defeated through revolutionary struggle in the streets!
The task at hand, which the millions taking to the streets in USA have set, is to coordinate, centralize, and generalize all the organizations of the masses in struggle, such as the self-organized committees of migrants, the movement in support of Palestine, the No Kings, the war veterans' movement, and the rank-and-file soldiers who are beginning to mobilize, in order to establish the self-organized organs of power of those below.
Such a movement would drag the black movement back into the fight, pulling it out of the clutches of the Democratic Party that dissolved and disorganized it.
It would also strike at the white working class, raising demands for the non-recognition of all workers' mortgage debts and for the seizure without compensation of the imperialist banks that looted the nation and the homes of the workers and the poor people.
Setting up dual-power organizations is the task of the moment in the US to confront the counter-revolutionary onslaught of the proto-fascist Trump.
To close the path of USA and their counter-revolutionary wars, it is a matter of life or death that the struggle of the US working class and masses be multiplied by the thousands.
As was shouted in Minneapolis: Dissolve the police, ICE, and all repressive forces of the US imperialist state! For self-defense committees!
Every time it was subjected to the Democratic Party, the US working class was left with its hands tied in fighting for its interests.
The time has come to unite the working class in a single struggle against the murderous Trump administration and the regime of the US pirates. For decent work and wages, for healthcare, housing, and education for all.We must occupy Wall Street! We must expropriate, without compensation and under workers' control, the transnational corporations and imperialist bankers who enslave the US working class and the oppressed workers and peoples of the world!
US gunboats are invading the Caribbean, carrying out massacres indiscriminately, and preparing for Maduro's surrender at gunpoint or a military attack on Venezuela. USA is coming to reclaim their lost spheres of influence in the global market through trade wars and gunfire.
But once again, the veterans' movement is beginning to rise inUSA. Previously, a US Army soldier had immolated himself for Gaza.
We must stop the imperialist war machine from all ports and airports in the country!
We must stand up because in the US the enemy is within and must be defeated before, as it did in the Middle East, it fills Latin America and the entire world with blood.
We must break with the murderous butchers of the Democratic Party and have no confidence in their “socialist” spokespeople who are in charge from the “left” of holding the rifles of the marines, always ready to fire on the rebellions of oppressed peoples.
Open the road to the veterans' committees! For committees of rank-and-file soldiers that disobey the officers who send the National Guard to militarize US cities! For the military defeat of USA in their war against Hispanics, which is part of imperialism counterrevolutionary offensive on Latin America!
Let the Anti-War Movement and the "Million March" rise up again against the war that has already begun against migrants and is being prepared against Venezuela!
We must fight like the workers of Italy, who went on General Strike in support of the Palestinian masses!
This is the path to defeat the Trump and Netanyahu ultimatum that seeks to impose the surrender of the Palestinian people of Gaza, and to expel the US troops and their military bases from all of Latin America.
The ally of the US masses is not the Democratic Party of the imperialist butchers, nor its “left wing” of “socialists” from Wall Street, JP Morgan and BlackRock.
The US working class, to triumph in its struggle, must unite with the workers of the nations oppressed and plundered by its own imperialism. Those are their true and only allies!
For the working class and the masses to live, imperialism must die!
For the socialist United States with the proletarian revolution of workers' and soldiers' councils, and alongside the international working class! |
