Bolivia - May 19, 2026
Following the brutal repression by the police and armed forces, thousands of workers, miners, poor peasents, teachers, factory workers, and neighborhood associations rose up and marched to La Paz on May 18th seeking the removal of the government…
Let's coordinate the struggle! From union assemblies, pickets, and roadblocks, we must call for a:
NATIONAL STRUGGLE COMMITTEE TO ORGANIZE, CENTRALIZE AND DEFEND OURSELVES IN A DECISIVE BATTLE UNTIL WE CRUSH THE IMF'S LACKEY GOVERNMENT
OUT WITH PAZ/LARA, THE FASCIST MEDIA LUNA,
AND THE US IMPERIALISM!
After three weeks of strikes and 67 roadblocks, and massive mobilizations of workers and peasants, Rodrigo Paz has ordered the Armed Forces and police on Saturday, May 16th, to repress and clear the blockades nationwide in Beni, Cochabamba, La Paz, and the revolutionary city of El Alto (with more than 20 blockades). These blockades obstructed transit in all access roads to La Paz, leading to fierce clashes between peasants who confronted and forced the police to retreat. This was the spark that deepened the fury of the exploited, as it was reported that the repression left a toll of 4 murdered, several wounded, and 57 detained for fighting, among them elderly people, youth, and women in polleras who were taken to police cells.
In response to the government's brutal offensive, on Monday, May 18th, thousands of exploited and workers held assemblies at picket lines, roadblocks, and union halls, including those in the Colquiri and Huanuni mines, and decided to march to downtown La Paz. This is how a day of mass uprising was lived, where the exploited of El Alto, the Miners' Federation, factory workers, the Ponchos Rojos and Polleras Rojas (Red Ponchos and Red Polleras) from the provinces of La Paz, and sectors of poor peasants from other departments, rural and urban teachers, combative students, neighborhood councils, and other sectors in struggle converged in a mobilization with a single slogan that outperformed all economic demands of each sector, demanding the resignation of Paz/Lara to the chant: "Resign, damn it!", "Rifles, machine guns, the people won't be silenced!", "Now yes, civil war!" clashing violently for several hours with the police guarding Plaza Murillo and repressing the mobilizers, leaving a toll of several wounded and around 100 detained, but that did not stop the rage of the rank and file.
Thus, the struggle of the masses escalates daily, for they know that to achieve even the bare minimum, they must overthrow the government that serves the interests of the oligarchy of the fascist Media Luna, the transnational corporations, and the IMF. So far this year, a little over 5 months into the new administration, this is the second revolutionary wave of the masses against the high cost of living, for bread, in defense of the land of the poor peasant, and against the attempted privatization of state-owned enterprises, in a massive anti-imperialist struggle. After 20 years of the country's surrendering to imperialism by the MAS government (first under Evo Morales and then Luis Arce), the Paz government is now committed to completing the handover of the nation to the IMF and the plundering by transnational corporations. To this end, it relies on the police and the armed forces, while unleashing fascist gangs on the streets to crush the people and impose its plan.
Meanwhile, the government negotiates sector by sector, buying off leaders —as denounced by poor peasants, the youth of the Public University of El Alto, rural teachers in La Paz, the rank and file of the COR in El Alto, neighborhood councils, and other sectors, who, tired of treacherous leaders, have chosen to reject the traitors. Thus, the masses are surpassing the various collaborationist leaderships so that, if they try to cut a deal behind the backs of the rank and file, they kick them out. ENOUGH OF TRAITORS! FOR A REVOLUTIONARY LEADERSHIP OF THE COB, CODs, CORs, FEJUVEs, AND ALL OUR STRUGGLE ORGANIZATIONS!
The hatred of the masses does not cease. That is why, from the assemblies, the roadblocks, and the pickets that clash with the police and the army, we must urgently call for a:
NATIONAL CONGRESS WITH 1 DELEGATE FOR EVERY 100 MINERS, FACTORY WORKERS, POOR PEASEANTS, TEACHERS, COMBATIVE STUDENTS, NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATIONS AND ALL SECTORS IN STRUGGLE
To establish a National Struggle Committee and re-establish the "Headquarters of the Bolivian Revolution" in El Alto to organize and centralize the fight until the government fall and the fascist Media Luna, and the US imperialism are defeated and expelled.
That Congress would represent the power of the vast majority of the country! Unlike those parliamentarians who represent a handful of businessmen and oligarchs, enemies of the people. A Congress where no capitalist who exploits workers and no bourgeois political party has a place would be a parliament recognized by the millions of exploited, and its very first measure would be to overthrow this government, break with imperialism, fight for a true agrarian reform, and expropriate the expropriators.
- It would be a Congress that calls for the establishment of Workers' and Peasants' Self-Defense Committees against police repression and calls for the crushing of the fascist gangs that are regrouping and taking to the streets, burning Wiphalas and beating poor peasants. A Congress that decides to go to the barracks before blood is shed as in 2019, and that calls on rank-and-file soldiers to arrest any officer who orders the killing of the people and to send their delegates to that Congress. Make way to the revolutionary COB of 1952 with its workers' and peasants' militias and its Committees of rank-and-file soldiers!
- A Congress that calls for the establishment of the power of those below; that is, a Provisional Workers' and Peasants' Government, which is the only one that could carry through all the way demands such as the nationalization of all mining and hydrocarbons; the expropriation of the land of the fascist Media Luna to give it to the poor peasants; the nationalization of the banks to forgive the peasant's debts and give them cheap credits; the struggle to cancel all the fraudulent debt with the IMF and the imperialist banks; only in this way would we have money to have education, health, work, and dignified and quality retirement.
A Congress thatI calls upon the exploited of Latin America to unite in a single anti-imperialist struggle. The working class, the poor peasantry, and all the exploited in Bolivia are demonstrating how to confront the plans of US imperialism, the IMF, and the "Shield of the Americas" with pickets, strikes, by confronting the repressive police with dynamite, by blocking roads, and by ousting all the traitorous bureaucratic leaders. But Paz is not only supported by US-serving Latin American governments—like Milei, who sent military gear to repress and massacre the revolting people—he also has the backing of genocidal Zionism, which is committing genocide against the Palestinian masses. Enough is enough!
Everyone to La Paz, Bolivia for a Continental Congress of workers' and peasants' organizations to fight against imperialism throughout Latin America!
We must send delegations of workers' and peasants' organizations to Bolivia to coordinate the continental struggle against Trump and all his subservient governments in Latin America... Our best allies are the workers of the USA who are fighting against Trump with the cry of "No Kings,".
Make way to the workers' and peasants' alliance across the Americas! Bolivia and Latin America are not for sale!
Out with the IMF, and US imperialism and its military bases
from Latin America!
Bolivia will be socialist or a colony of Wall Street!
